5 questions to leaders in consumer & retail: Florian Weischer, Weischer (formerly weischer.media)
Weischer is one of the leading media firms for cinema-, OOH- and online advertising. Since many years Weischer is an official representative of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. 2019, the company was named the world’s first official supporting partner of the United Nations. Florian Weischer is a co-chairman of Weischer, which was founded about 60 years ago and has its headquarter in Hamburg. He also runs and supports social and sustainable projects.
1.Where are you right now?
On a very little island in the North Sea. Off and remote.
2.What was your biggest surprise or positiv learning this year?
The pressure to think new about yourself, your business, the world we live in. Learning new things is a gift.
3.Where is Weischer in the process of digitising the business? What’s next or what has been implemented lately?
We had to learn and accept to work remotely, from mobile or home office, from any place and to keep the company going. All this within 36 hours and only worked because we already had an existing digital process.
After the initial shock and the lockdown we concentrated on scenarios of the release. Unfortunately this release is in many parts unpredictable. The process of recovery for our business (cinema) is much slower than expected and our other core business out-of-home got back to speed within 6 weeks. We have to adopt to this with a maximum of flexibility. Without a digital workflow? No way!
4.What is your biggest client challenge post-covid?
To make them feel confident to invest in communication. To overcome the barriers of insecurity.
5.The WHY question on purpose: Why does your brand and business exist?
We enable advertisers to reach their audience in a meaningful and sustainable way.
